Refund Policy

Last updated: 8 September 2026

1. About this policy

Health Equity (healthequity.in) is an initiative of Savita Memorial Trust, a public charitable trust registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 (Registration No. E/1335/Anand, PAN AADTS5268B) ("the Trust", "we", "us"). This Refund Policy applies to all donations made through our website. By making a donation on this website you agree to the terms set out below. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Cancellation Policy.

2. Nature of payments received

All payments received through this website are voluntary charitable donations towards the Trust’s healthcare and community welfare programmes. We do not sell any goods or services through this website. No product is shipped and no service is delivered in exchange for a donation.

Because donations are committed to programme costs shortly after they are received, donations are generally non-refundable once the payment has been successfully processed. The exceptions are set out in Section 3.

3. When we will consider a refund

We recognise that genuine mistakes happen. We will review and, where the claim is verified, refund a donation in the following circumstances:

  • Duplicate payment. The same donation was charged more than once due to a technical error or repeated submission.
  • Incorrect amount. An amount was entered in error, for example an extra digit. In such cases we will normally refund the excess rather than the entire donation.
  • Unauthorised transaction. The donation was made without the account holder’s consent, subject to verification and any applicable bank or card network process.
  • Amount debited but donation not recorded. Your account was debited but the payment did not complete on our side and no receipt was issued.
  • Donation made to a closed appeal. You named a particular appeal in the comment box on the donation form, that appeal had already met its target or been withdrawn at the time of your donation, and you do not wish the amount to be redirected to our general fund.

4. How to request a refund

Please write to us at [email protected] within seven (7) days of the transaction date. To help us locate the payment quickly, include the following in your request:

  • The donor’s full name, email address and mobile number as entered on the donation form
  • The donation amount and the date of the transaction
  • The payment reference or order ID shown on your confirmation page or receipt, or your bank or card statement reference
  • A short explanation of why a refund is being requested

Requests made after seven days will still be reviewed, but we may be unable to reverse the payment once the funds have been allocated to a programme.

5. How refunds are processed

We acknowledge every refund request within 3 business days and complete our review within 7 business days of receiving the information listed above. Where a refund is approved, it is initiated immediately and credited back to the original payment method only. We do not issue refunds in cash, to a different bank account, or to a different card.

Once initiated, the amount typically reaches your account within 7 to 10 business days, depending on your bank, card issuer or UPI provider. This settlement period is controlled by your bank and is outside the Trust’s control.

We do not deduct any administrative charge from an approved refund. Payment gateway fees, where they are not returned to us, are borne by the Trust.

6. Failed transactions

If a payment fails but your account is debited, the amount is normally reversed automatically by your bank or the payment gateway within 5 to 7 business days without any action from you. If it has not been credited back after 7 business days, contact us with your transaction reference and we will follow it up with the payment gateway on your behalf.

7. Donation receipts and tax exemption

Where a receipt has already been issued for a donation that is subsequently refunded, that receipt stands cancelled and may not be used to claim any tax benefit. If you have already claimed a deduction on the strength of that receipt, it is your responsibility to inform your tax adviser and revise your return accordingly.
